Thread lifting is an effective non-invasive cosmetic procedure that lifts and tightens sagging skin on the face and body by placing Polydioxanone threads (PDO) into the subcutaneous layer of the skin using small needles to help lift sagging skin and introduce collagen, creating a firmer, fresher and youthful appearance.
What can PDO threads be used for;
Sagging face – non-surgical facelift
Lift for droopy eyebrows
Increase collagen (under eye circles, cheeks, nasolabial folds)
Improving skin texture
Breast firming and shaping
How does it work
The treads are made of PDO material which is similar to the threads used in surgical stitches. When inserted into the skin, (either by a blunt cannula or microneedle) the PDO threads acts as scaffolding for the skin which helps hold the skin against the effects of gravity and ageing. PDO’s attach to the skin tissue and are then pulled back to lift and smooth the face, neck or body whilst encouraging collagen growth. The PDO threads will dissolve over six months but continue to produce enough collagen and tightness to last many years. This innovative alternative to a facelift can be performed in little as an hour and the results are almost immediate.
The thread lift is usually carried out under local anaesthetic and takes between 45 to 60 minutes depending on the treatment area.
Does it hurt
Your Aesthetician will provide local anaesthetic to numb the treatment area and prevent pain. Side effects are minimal but include swelling and bruising that may last 2-3days.
You are advised to sleep on your back during post-treatment and to avoid contact sport, facials massages and dental surgery. If you experience pain, contact the clinic and consult your doctor. Pain relief medication may be recommended. No further beauty treatments are advised post 1 week of the thread lift.
