Microdermabrasion is a gentle non-invasive, non-chemical highly effective and clinically proven technique for revealing fresh, glowing, rejuvenated skin. The treatment also encourages the production of new collagen and elastin, which further improves your skin’s appearance.
It can treat the following:
Dull and sallow complexion
Open and enlarged pores
Fine lines and wrinkles
Dry, flaky, ageing skin
Helps reduce hyperpigmentation and age spots
Microdermabrasion is much gentler than dermabrasion which is a more intensive procedure used to treat deeper facial lines, extreme sun damage and scars and therefore should not be confused.
How does it work?
Microdermabrasion is a treatment where a diamond-encrusted applicator wand gently exfoliates the skin by passing over the skin’s surface under pressure and vacuumed back at a fraction of a second. This leads to removal of the superficial skin layer, without damaging the integrity of the skin. When repeated multiple times, this allows the younger softer skin to move to the surface and gently erasing fine lines and skin imperfections.
Does it hurt?
The microdermabrasion procedure exfoliates dead cells from the skin’s surface. While it is gentle and non-painful, some patients may experience a slight warming sensation as the microdermabrasion crystals gently slough away old and damaged layers of skin. Some patients compare the treatment to a facial massage. After a microdermabrasion treatment, the newly revealed layer of skin is usually more sensitive and requires extra protection from the sun. Applying moisturizing cream to help hydrate and calm the skin.
Microdermabrasion is often called a ‘lunch hour’ treatment because it’s a quick procedure and can be performed in the clinic during your lunch hour. Your skin will be dramatically rejuvenated, the appearance of fine lines reduced and have achieved a healthy vibrant glow almost immediately with rapid recovery.
How many treatments will I need?
Microdermabrasion helps produce thicker, healthier, skin layers; multiple treatments are vital because they encourage the production of a new layer of skin cells that contain higher levels of collagen and elastin. Both of these components are essential for continued vibrant, healthy skin, and they will further improve your complexion and overall appearance of your skin.
Approximately 6 -12 treatments spaced weekly for the first 6 -12 weeks to allow optimal results to surface and then further monthly treatments to maintain your glowing fresh and rejuvenated skin.
Skin Conditions and Caution
Microdermabrasion is a gentle treatment for all skin types and tones; men and women. However, it is important to discuss your health and skin condition with your aesthetician to ensure your comfort, safety and best achievable results.

In general, microdermabrasion results in thicker, healthier, more youthful looking skin. Over the course of a full set of treatments, the body will produce new layers of elastic and collagen. This, in turn, improves the complexion and gives the skin a more radiant, vibrant glow.
